planter working model

I made this working model/test rig based on information of self watering plant pots based on a 'wicking' system I found on the internet. It's a self -watering planter and works by the system of percolation, where water moves from areas of saturation to areas of de-saturation. The plant absorbs water throughout it's roots, desaturating the soil, so water from the reservoir is absorbed up the cotton wick into the soil compartment, giving the plant water as it needs. The plant never gets water logged and doesn't need to be watered. The water reservoir needs only to be re-filled every 3 weeks or so (I didn't re-fill it for 2 weeks and it still had pliantly of water in it). -Yvette
